Alexis Payne (firstname.lastname@example.org) recently received her Bachelors of Science in Biology from Howard University this past May. With goals of becoming a general dentist, Alexis has been taking classes as a non-degree seeking graduate student in Howard University's Department of Anatomy in preparation for dental school. Her dream is to continue her educational career at Howard and receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) from their College of Dentistry.
Within the Cobb Research Lab, Alexis serves as our Fundraising Chair, advocating to build our scholarship fund for all of our research assistance and volunteers. Alexis’ research explores new innovative ways to extract ancient DNA from our four centuries of raw material here within the Cobb Research Lab. Her interest in dentistry has helped spark our first dental analysis of Dr. W Montague Cobb’s Collection allowing insight to DNA sequencing of the entire collection as well as oral microbiome analysis. Currently, Alexis has been working diligently in hopes of getting her first publication of her research thus far with the Cobb Research Lab.
